     December 16, 2018

    Swachhta Pledge was taken in the presence of the Director, Dr. Arunav Pattanayak at Almora campus. Briefing of the activities to be organized during the Pakhwada was done. Cleaning of office campus and plantation of trees at Hawalbagh campus of ICAR-VPKAS, Almora was also done. Banners were display at prominent places. Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chiniyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafliger, Bageswar.

    December 17, 2018

    A meeting of the Heads/ In-charges of different sections was organized to review the digitization work of the office records / e-office implementation. Cleanliness drive including cleaning of offices, corridors and premises, weeding out of old records, disposing of old and obsolete furniture’s, junk materials and white washing/painting. At Krishi Vigyan Kendra (ICAR-VPKAS), Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi, staff memebers cleaned the store rooms, training hall, and exhibition hall within the office building. The staff also disposed off all the old and obsolete furnitures and junk materials. The office records were also digitized by the staff members.

    Swachhta activities at Institute KVK, Chiniyalisaur

     

    18th December, 2018

    On December 18, 2018 an extensive cleanliness drive under the Swachhta Pakhwada (December 16-31, 2018) was undertaken at the experimental farm Hawalbagh. The cleaning works started from the main lab building and continued up to the residential colony. Sensitization of the stakeholders on proper SWM Cleanliness and waste management was also undertaken. The biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste management was also focused upon during the cleanliness drive. Increased awareness and pro-active attitude regarding the importance and necessity of the cleanliness campaign was also observed. Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageswar.

    19th December, 2018

    On 19th December, 2018 Swachhta campaign was organized in various MGMG villages. In Almora district the programs were conducted in Bimola, Latwalgaon, Naugaon and Raun-Dal villages. In Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and KVK, Kafligair also the swachhta campaign was organized in adopted MGMG villages. A group discussion on sanitation, cleanliness and its benefits was organized by the KVK officials. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste was disposed by the staff and the villagers.

    On 20th December 2018 following activities were carried out at Hawalbagh experimental farm of the institute.

    • A gosthi was organized on farm waste management and utilization of organic wastes in villages near Hawalbagh and institute residential colony.
    •  Participants in this Gosthi were sensitized on efficient and eco-friendly waste management practices and environmental hazards of polythene waste.
    • The emphasis was given on more use of bio-degradable carry bags instead of polythene.
    • Residents and farm workers were also sensitized about proper composting of kitchen and home waste materials.
    • Cleaning of agricultural farm was done.

      Similar activities were also carried out in KVKs at Kafligair and Chinyalisaur.

    21 December

                On 21st December 2018 a campaign on cleaning of sewerage & water lines was done in Mehat Gaon village. Awareness on recycling of waste water, water harvesting for agriculture/ horticulture application/kitchen gardens was done in residential colonies of VPKAS, Hwalbagh and Mahatgaon village. / 1-2 nearby villages. Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageshwar.

    22nd  December, 2018

     

    On 22nd December 2018, a Goshthi was organised at ICAR VPKAS, Hawalbagh Experimental Farm for creating awareness among the farmers and stakeholders on technologies for conversion of waste to wealth. In the Gosthi, a lecture on “Recycling of farm waste” was given by Dr. Dibakar Mahanta, Senior Scientist, Crop Production Division as an expert. The lecture was attended by institute scientists, technical and farmers. He explained improved methods of composting and vermicomposting with farm waste such as crop stover, cowdung, etc. He also explained the economics involved in composting and its contribution in increasing farmer’s income.

    For skill up-gradation, a hands on exercise on demonstration of scientific method of vermicomposting was organised for farmers at Organic block, Kosi. The farmers were apprised with scientific method of vermicomposting and straining of vermi-compost with the help of VL Chhanna Drum.  About 29 farmers from Bhatwari block of Uttarkashi participated in the event.  Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageshwar.

    23th  December, 2018

    On 23nd December, 2018 a Kisan Diwas was organised at ICAR VPKAS, Hawalbagh Experimental Farm. In this Kisan Diwas 40 farmers participated.

    A Kisan Gosthi was organised on this occasion in which institute scientists and farmers shared the knowledge on Swachhta. Farmers were then taken to the institute museum where they were made acquainted with institute technology. Farmers were also taken to the mushroom unit for visit. Similar activities were also organised at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageshwar.

    24th December, 2018

    On December 24, 2018 an extensive cleanliness drive under the Swachhta Pakhwada was undertaken at the experimental farm Hawalbagh. A goshthi was organized at Hawalbagh village in Almora district for creating awareness about cleanliness. The importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was told to the participants. Later on an extensive cleaning campaign was organized with the help of farmers, farm women, school children and village youths. Village area and playground were cleaned by the local participants. The participants were very much interested to continue such type of activities in other common places of village. Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageshwar.

    25th December, 2018

    On 25th December 2018 a cleanliness drive under the Swachhta Pakhwada was undertaken at public place (Near Stadium), community market places (Near Raghunath City Mall) and tourist spots (Brighten Corner) at Almora. Cleaning of shine boards drains and walls in office premises was also done. Bushes were cleaned near Almora Inter College.

    Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and Kafligair, Bageshwar.

    26th December, 2018

    On December 26, 2018 a team of scientist was constituted to organize the cleanness competition among the various laboratories on the basis of their adherence to cleanness, safety measures, working environment, categorization of chemicals, working guidelines. A total nine laboratories of the institute viz. agronomy, soil science, biochemistry (quality), plant physiology, entomology, molecular entomology, soil microbiology, biotechnology, and plant pathology were examined. The biochemistry (quality) got the first place followed by soil microbiology and entomology laboratory. The programme was jointly coordinated by Drs. Ramesh Pal Singh, R. P. Yadav and VS Meena.

    Quiz competitions was organized for school children, of Vivekanand Ucchatar Madhyamik Vidya Mandir, Kafligair, by KVK, Bageshwar. KVK, Chiniyalisaur organized an essay competition on “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan , Jeevan me swacchtta ka mahatav and Swacch evam viksit rashtra” for school children of Government Inter college Chinyalisaur. Total 20 students participated in this programme.

    27th December, 2018

    On December 27, 2018 various activities were done under Swachhta Pakhwada (during 16-31 December, 2018). At Hawalbagh a Gosthi was organized on “farm waste management and utilization of organic wastes in villages and residential colonies”. 18 students from Kumaun University campus, Almora were invited to participated in the gosthi. Residents of institute colony and farmer of nearby village (Hawalbagh) were sensitized about the environmental hazards of polythene bags and it was urged to use biodegradable carry bags instead of polythene. The farm waste were collected and told to use that waste for proper composting for ecofriendly waste management.

    On December 28, 2018 under Swachhta Pakhwada (16-31 December, 2018) programs were led by a team comprised of Dr. P. K. Mishra, Dr. D. C. Joshi and Dr. R P Yadav. In a Swachhta Goshthi Dr. P K Mishra delivered a lecture on importance of cleaning of sewerage & water lines and awareness on recycling of waste water with the involvement of local and village communities. Dr. D C Joshi narrated the ways of water harvesting for agriculture and horticulture application and Dr. R P Yadav described how kitchen gardens in residential colonies outside campuses and nearby villages could help in maintaining cleanliness besides production of fresh organic food. Similar activities were also carried out at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, and Kafligair, Bageswar.

    29th December, 2018

     On December 29, 2018 under Swachhta Pakhwada (16-31 December, 2018) institute staff visited waste disposal sites in office premises and participated in campaign for safe disposal of Biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Farming community from nearly locality was informed about management of non- biodegradable substances like glass, plastic, wood and so on. Monitoring and supervising waste disposal is very important. Collection of wastes, processing it & recycling the used stuff from biodegradable waste like paper material, food waste, vegetable peels, garden waste, egg shells etc was also emphasized. Similar activities were also done at the KVKs in Chinyalisaur, and Kafligair, Bageswar.

    भाकृअनुप-विवेकानन्द पर्वतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान, अल्मोड़ा में चल रहे स्वच्छता पखवाड़े के अन्तर्गत आज दिनांक 30.12.2018 को संस्थान के प्रांगण में स्वच्छता गोष्ठी एवं स्वच्छता कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि माननीय नगरपालिका अध्यक्ष, अल्मोड़ा श्री प्रकाश चन्द्र जोशी जी एवं विशिष्ट अतिथि माननीय सभासद, विवेकानन्दपुरी वार्ड, अल्मोड़ा श्री हेम तिवारी जी ने संस्थान के अन्य कर्मचारियों के साथ स्वच्छता अभियान के कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया। इस संस्थान के प्रयासों की सराहना करते हुए माननीय मुख्य-अतिथि ने कहा कि यह संस्थान स्वच्छता के क्षेत्रा में अल्मोड़ा स्थित कार्यालयों एवं विभिन्न संस्थानों के लिए प्रेरणा स्रोत है। इस संस्थान में भविष्य में भी इसी प्रकार की स्वच्छता बनाये रखने का आह्वान करते हुए उन्होंने अन्य संस्थानों से भी इसका अनुकरण करने को कहा। विशिष्ट अतिथि माननीय सभासद, विवेकानन्दपुरी-वार्ड, अल्मोड़ा ने अपने व्याख्यान में इस संस्थान की स्वच्छता का उदाहरण देते हुए सभी से अनुरोध किया कि वे यह प्रेरणा लें कि घर से बाहर निकलने पर वे टाफी, पान मसाला एवं अन्य चीजों के खाली पैकेटों को इधर-उधर न फेंककर सीधे कूड़ादान में ही डालें।

     

    संस्थान के निदेशक डा0 ए. पट्टनायक ने मुख्य अतिथि महोदय के स्वच्छता संदेश को आगे बढ़ाने हेतु धन्यवाद देते हुए यह आश्वासन दिया कि वे इस क्षेत्रा एवं वार्ड को स्वच्छ रखने में अपना एवं संस्थान का सहयोग सदैव देते रहेंगे। कार्यक्रम का संचालन करते हुए विभागाध्यक्ष, डा0 जे0 के0 बिष्ट ने सभी को स्वच्छता का महत्व बतातेहुए उक्त पखवाड़े में चल रहे विभिन्न स्वच्छता कार्यक्रमों की जानकारी दी। स्वच्छता के नोडल अधिकारी, डा0 निर्मल चन्द्रा ने कहा कि स्वच्छता हेतु जागरूकता अत्यन्त आवश्यक है। इस अवसर पर विभिन्न समाचार पत्रों के प्रतिनिधियों ने भी भाग लिया। संस्थान द्वारा संचालित के.वी.के. चिनियालीसौड़ तथा काफलीगेर में भी इसी प्रकार के कार्यक्रम आयोजित किये गये।

    On  December 31, 2018 under Swachhta Pakhwada (16-31 December, 2018) a Swachhta Goshthi was organised in which the importance of cleanliness was highlighted and Swachata Pakhwada as well as the different activities carried out during the Swachata Pakhwada organized from 16 to 31 December, 2018 by ICAR-VPKAS, Almora. Twenty students from HNB University, Almora participated. Dr. K. K. Mishra summarized the activities done during the fortnight. Press report was also prepared in this regard and was given to media personnels. Cleaning of institute premises was also done.
