The XXIII Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting of ICAR-VPKAS, Almora was held on September 12, 2019 under the Chairmanship of Dr. K.R. Dhiman, Ex. Vice Chancellor, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan. The RAC members present in the meeting were Dr. Hemendra Chandra Bhattacharyya, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat; Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Ex. Director NBAIM, Mau; Dr. K.K. Satpathy, Ex. Director NIRJAFT, Kolkata; Dr. J.P. Singh, Professor (Horticulture), College of Agriculture, GBPUA&T, Pantnagar; Dr. B.S. Mahapatra, Prof. Agronomy, GBPUA&T, Pantnagar and Dr. Jai C. Rana, National Coordinator, UN Environment-GEF Project Biodiversity International-India. The meeting was also attended by HoDs and all scientists of the Institute.

                The meeting began with the welcome of the Chairman and members of the RAC by Dr. A. Pattanayak, Director, ICAR–VPKAS, Almora.  Dr. K.R. Dhiman, RAC Chairperson, in his opening remarks said that the Institute has done commendable work on different aspects of hill agricultural research. He emphasized that there is a need to develop technologies and methodologies for enhancing the use efficiency of inputs. In his remarks he also said that in hill agro–eco-system inclusion of production system with due importance contributing factors like agriculture, horticulture, and forestry on complementarities should be done. He further said that Institute shall be celebrating its golden jubilee soon therefore a publication on 50 years’ journey be brought out including its role in economy of Uttaranchal state. He emphasized that while assessing the impact of the institute technology due authentication with data should be given.
