A Farm Tool Distribution programme was organized on 14 December 2020 in the Experimental Farm, Hawalbagh of ICAR-VPKAS, Almora under the Schedule Cast Sub-Plan (SCSP) programme of Institute. The farmers were given live demonstrations on VL Metallic Plough, VL Light Trap, Agri-Canon, VL Small farm tool kit (including VL Line Maker, VL Kutla, VL Hand Fork, VL Garden Rake, VL Hand Hoe, VL Darati and VL Khurpi). 51 units of VL Small farm tool kit, 13 VL Metallic Plough, 7 VL Light Traps and 7 Agri Canon were distributed to Scheduled Caste (SC) families (below poverty line - BPL) of Galli Basyura, Chinauna, Mujholi, Aina, Ramna, Odla, Dhankholi, Rankheela, Bajgal, Dangikhola and Udiyari villages of Almora district.
Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director ICAR-VPKAS, Almora was the Chief Guest of the function. He asked the farmers to adopt new agricultural technologies for better development. He said that these machines and tools are very effective in reducing human drudgery. It will not only save time, but will also improve the quality of the product. Use of modern agricultural implements will provide direct benefits to the farmers. Dr. J.K. Bisht, Head, Crop Production Division briefed about the technologies developed by the institute and inspired the farmers to adopt improved techniques of agriculture. Dr. Anuradha Bhartiya, Scientist said that about one year ago SCSP Programme with Vivek Millet Thresher-cum-Pearler also benefited these farmers. In the beginning of the programme, Dr. Sher Singh, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, SCSP Programme welcomed the chief guest and farmers and briefed about the activities going on under the SCSP programme. Dr. Sher Singh coordinated the programme.
