ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora organized two days training programme on “Oyster Mushroom Cultivation” during August 23-24, 2022 for the farmers of institute adopted village Lakhani, district Bageshwar under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan programme. Dr. S.C. Panday, Director (In-Charge) was the Chief Guest of the programme. While addressing the farmers, Dr. Panday told that during present scenario mushroom cultivation might be good source of income generation for the small holding farmers or landless farmers. In addition, mushrooms are rich source of nutrition and enhances the immunity. Dr. B.M. Pandey, Nodal Officer, Training Cell asked the farmers that the cultivation of oyster mushroom is very easy and one can learn it. Farmers can sale their produce fresh or in form of value added products. During the training programme, Dr. K.K. Mishra, Dr. Gaurav Verma, Dr. Ramesh Singh Pal, Dr. Jeevan B and Dr. Amit Umesh Paschapur delivered the lectures on different aspects of oyster mushroom. Farmers were also imparted hands on training on cultivation of oyster mushroom. The Plenary Session of the programme was chaired by Dr. J.K. Bisht, Director (In-Charge), ICAR-VPKAS, Almora. He emphasized for round the year mushroom cultivation by the farmers. He asked the farmers to develop expertise in mushroom production so that they can earn more profit from this enterprise in future also. Dr. K. K. Mishra, Principal Scientist & In-charge Head and Dr. Gaurav Verma, Scientist, Crop Protection Division were the training coordinators for the training programme.
