ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora organized 13th Himalayan Day on September 09, 2022. The theme of the programme was “Himalaya: The Climate Governor”. Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora Dr. J. K. Bisht inaugurated the programme. In his introductory remarks, he emphasized the importance of Himalayas. He told that Himalaya is an important ecological pillar and needs special attention. Climate change is playing a vital role in changing cropping system. We have to frame policies which should address about the Himalayas. Celebration of Himalaya Diwas has been an effort to bring every stakeholder together to contemplate collectively on the current and future state of Himalayas. He also informed the house that Forage Day is also being organized today. On the occasion, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Meena, Scientist delivered a lecture on “Climate resilient agriculture practices in the Indian Himalayas”. A lecture on “Insect pest scenario in changing climatic conditions of Indian Himalayas” was also delivered by Mr. Amit Umesh Paschapur, Scientist. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks to the participants. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. K.K. Mishra, Principal Scientist.
