ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora has organized an online training programme on Mushroom Production Technologies from August 26-28, 2021. Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora Dr. Lakshmi Kant has inaugurated the programme. In his introductory remarks, he emphasized the nutritional and medicinal significance of mushrooms. He told about the biodiversity of mushroom species and also about the prime edible and medicinal mushrooms. He told that care should be taken while eating wild mushrooms. Mushrooms are rich source of proteins, vitamins, minerals, and free from cholesterol. One must incorporate mushrooms in his routine eating habit. It may enhance the livelihood of the farmers in terms of health and income.
On 26.08.2021 Dr. K.K. Mishra, Principal Scientist delivered a lecture on “Mushroom Production Status: Current scenario and future prospects”. A lecture on “Mushrooms: Nutritional and medicinal significance” was also delivered by Dr. Ramesh Singh Pal, Scientist. On 27.08.2021, Dr. Chandan Maharana, Scientist has delivered a lecture on “Mushroom spawn production technology”. A video on spawn production was also shown to the participants. A lecture on “Growing button mushroom” was presented by Dr. K.K. Mishra. On 28.08.2021, Dr. Chandan Maharana, gave lecture on “Oyster mushroom cultivation” while Dr. Jeevan B. has delivered a lecture on “Mushroom diseases and their management”.
In the last, all the queries of the participants were addressed by the programme co-ordinators. Participants have given their valuable feedbacks. A total of 30 participants from Uttarakhand, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal were attended the programme. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks to the participants. Certificates to the participants were distributed virtually. All the lectures were also shared with the participants. The training programme was co-ordinated by Drs. Chandan Maharana, Jeevan B. and K.K. Mishra.
