Extension events in ICAR-VPKAS

ICAR-VPKAS has developed more than 125 suitable crop varieties and hybrids along with appropriate production and protection technologies and these improved technologies are disseminated among farmers through various out reachprogramme. As per the mandate of ICAR, every scientist is required to develop 20 % of his time on extension related activities. These technologies are passed on to the hill community free of cost.

VPKAS is regularly organizing demonstration of different varieties of cereal crops, vegetables, pulses, millets, fodder etc in experimental farm, Hawalbagh 14 km from Almora city so that visiting farmers can see live performances of VPKAS varieties. Farmers who purchase seeds and planting materials from the institute are provided a leaflet free of cost related with its production technology.

Agriculture knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) is effectively providing services and information to farmers and other stakeholders through single window delivery system farmers are seeking farm related advise through Farmers’ Help Line No. 18001802311.  AKMU is also providing Need-Based SMS services for registered farmers under different programmes like MeraGaonMera Gaurav, Tribal Sub Plan, Front Line Demonstration etc.

KrishakGoshtis(Farmers-Scientist Interactions), field Days Front Line Demonstrations are organized in to discuss farmers’ agriculture related problems and demonstrate promising crop varieties at farmers field.
