ICAR-VPKAS, Almora organized “Hands on Training Programme on Apiculture”

ICAR-VPKAS, Almora has organized two days “Hands on training program on Apiculture” during February 08-09, 2024. Thirty nine officials from Sashatra Seema Bal, Almora belonging to 14 different states have joined the program. Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora while addressing the participants asked them to absorb honey production technology in day to day life. He told that this technology is very easy and a farmer can secure his livelihood through adopting this technology. He urged all the participants to act as a master trainer in his village for spreading the honey production technology. During the inaugural program, Dr N K Hedau, Head, Crop Improvement Division highlighted the importance of honey bees and products in life.

Dr. K K Mishra, Head Crop Protection Division and Training Coordinator briefed about the objectives and schedule of the training program. Mr. Amit Umesh Paschapur, Mr. Jaiprakash Gupta and Mr. Sanaullah Bhat delivered their talk on different aspects of Apiculture. SSB jawans took hands on training on bee carpentry, handling on bee boxes, inspection of bee colony, artificial queen rearing, division of bee boxes, identification of various diseases of honey bees, and collection of swarm. The program was concluded with vote of thanks to all the participants. The program was coordinated by Drs. K.K. Mishra and Ashish Kumar Singh.
