ICAR-VPKAS, Almora organized two days’ workshop on “Package of Practices for Kharif Crops” during 29-30 July 2024 at Experimental Farm, Hawalbagh, Almora

ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora has organized two days’ workshop on “Package of Practices for Kharif Crops” during 29-30 July 2024 at Experimental Farm, Hawalbagh, Almora for state officers. Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora has inaugurated this workshop. In his introductory remarks, he briefed about the genesis of the workshop. He told that the main aim of the workshp is to deliver the package of practices for various hill crops grown during kharif season including varietal improvement, suitable agronomic practices and insect & pests’ identification and management which might be helpful for the staff of Department of Agriculture and other Agriculture Extension officers working at field level with the farmers. He told that during this workshop, all the state officers will be made aware about the recent developments of institute technologies/varieties. Also due to shift in pathogen population there is emergence of new diseases and pests which result in economic yield loss which will be addressed during the workshop. Institute has also developed various small tools and machineries which are suitable for hill farmers.

During workshop various lectures related to improved varieties of kharif crops, their production and protection technologies were delivered. All the queries of the participants were addressed by the respective experts of the session. In the valedictory session, all the participants have given their valuable feedbacks. A total of 15 participants from district Almora attended the programme on physical mode whereas 35 participants from different organizations attended virtually. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks to the participants. Certificates to the participants were distributed by the Director. The training programme was co-ordinated by Drs. N K Headu, K.K. Mishra and BM Pandey.
