IFFDC and NABARD sponsored three-day farmers' training programme on “Increase in Income through advanced agricultural production technology” conducted at ICAR-VPKAS, Almora

ICAR VPKAS Almora, Uttarakhand organized A three day farmers' training programme on “Increase in Income through advanced agricultural production technology” from 02-04 August 2023, sponsored by IFFDC and NABARD. The programme was attended by 30 farmers from different districts including Pithoragarh, Nainital and Almora. The valedictory program on August 4, 2023 was inaugurated by Dr Lakshmi Kant, Director ICAR VPKAS and Chief Guest Dr Arun Kumar Joshi, Managing Director BISA. The training was aimed at providing farmers with a comprehensive understanding of agricultural practices, Agri Business innovations and associated problems.  The programme covered topics such as cultivation technique of pulses, vegetables and horticultural crops along with plant protection strategies, identification of pests and diseases. The training also emphasised on Agri business innovation and business plans. 

The programme was coordinated by Dr Priyanka Khati, Ashish Kumar Singh and Mahendar Singh Bhinda and attended by distinguished guests, including Dr N K Hedau, Head of Crop Improvement Division, Dr K K Mishra, Head of Crop Protection Division, Dr B M Pandey, Head of Crop Production Division, Dr J K Bisht, PME In-charge and Dr Kushagra Joshi, In-charge Social Science Section of ICAR VPKAS Almora.

The training programme received a positive response from the farmers, who appreciated the practical approach of the sessions. They expressed their gratitude towards the organizers and facilitators for providing them with a valuable opportunity to learn and interact with experts in the field. The Director of ICAR VPKAS Almora, expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of the training programme. He also encouraged the farmers to implement the techniques learned during the training in their farms and to spread the knowledge to other farmers in the region.  Dr A K Joshi, Managing Director BISA and CIMMYT Country Representative for India and regional representative for South Asia also shared his vast experience in agricultural research with farmer trainees.

The organizers and facilitators received commendations from the participants for their efforts and expertise.
