Training for women farmers on agri based enterprise development organised by ICAR VPKAS

ICAR VPKAS, Almora organised a four-day training programme for women farmers on “Income augmentation through agri-enterprises” during 09-12 January, 2024 under Schedule Caste Sub Plan. Dr K.K. Mishra, Director-in-Charge, inaugurated the training programme. He stated that as agriculture in the hills is predominantly done by women farmers, organising training programmes for women farmers will have a far-reaching effect on agricultural development. The programme was attended by 33 women farmers from Almora and Pauri Garhwal districts. Different lectures on mushroom production, vegetable production, apiculture, convergence of Government schemes for women enterprenures, and value addition of horticultural products were organised. For practical exposure to nursery raising enterprise, a visit was organised to Yashoda Nursey at Lohali. The training ended on 12 January 2024 with certificates distribution alongwith distribution of onion seedlings and Bacillus strain WGPSB for the management of white grubs. The women farmers were satisfied with the programme and expressed their willingness to attend the trainings in future also. Dr. Kushagra Joshi, Dr. Navin Gahtyari and Dr. Priyanka Khati coordinated the training programme.
